The Plan

Saturday

Be at Shadow Bay group site B by 4:00 for the ceremony!

Enjoy dinner, dancing, and hanging out from 5:00-ish until 10:00 (on account of campground quiet hours)

Stay overnight at the campground with us if that’s your jam!

Sunday

If you camp Saturday night, we’ll have a campground breakfast together.

  • Everything is planned for Saturday, October 11th and we’ll be kicking off the “formal” events at 4:00 PM. We encourage folks to join us earlier in the day to enjoy the Waldo Lake wilderness. We have booked the group campsite for Friday and Saturday night and would love to have folks join us for the whole weekend if you’re able! We will be providing dinner on Saturday evening and Breakfast on Sunday morning, the other meals will be on your own.

Morning to mid afternoon: Gather and hang out at Waldo Lake. Or hit up some nearby waterfalls. Or go experience some of the Pacific Crest Trail. Or see what’s up with Salt Creek. Plenty of very beautiful stuff close by!

4:00: Everyone heads from the campground down to the lakeshore for a short ceremony where you join us as part of our community while we exchange vows.

After that: Dinner and party! Campground rules (and wanting to respect other campers) mean we’re cutting off music and dancing at 10:00, but chilling around campfires will definitely be an option later into the night.

  • We’re getting married at Waldo Lake at the Shadow Bay campground, specifically group site B!

Waldo Lake is usually gorgeous in early October, but that’s not a guarantee. We’re going to be out there even if the weather is rainy or chilly or blustery, so come prepared with layers and rain gear, just in case.

If that sounds too rough-and-ready for you, that’s okay! We won’t feel any less loved if you don’t feel like you want to or can join us up there.

  • Shadow Bay group site B has the nicest pit toilets you’ll probably ever use.

There’s potable water available, but in classic campground style it’s via centralized spigots.

    There are not electrical hookups.

The group campsites we’ve reserved can accommodate car camping no problem, but are not suitable for RVs or trailers.

  • Waldo Lake is about an hour and a half drive from Eugene and about 45 minutes from Oakridge.

Oakridge is a small logging town, so if you’re interested in staying somewhere with more amenities, you’ll want to find somewhere in Eugene.

There’re also some very nice cabins (with indoor plumbing) at Odell Lake, which is about 30 minutes from Waldo Lake.

  • The wedding is happening the afternoon and evening of Saturday October 11th, so you want to be at Group Campsite B at Shadow Bay on Waldo Lake at 4:00 to be in time for that.

You can come up before that, of course! There’s plenty of spectacular places to see if you’re there early and want to do some hiking or even just chill on the lakeshore.

After dinner, we’ll have a party, but quiet hours start at 10:00 PM, so we’ll be calling it a day around then.

  • Please don’t bring either your children or animals. Even our beloved Sage isn’t invited.

  • We’ll be enjoying a pretty standard river trip meal: baked potato bar and salad.

It’s a build-your-own situation, so you can avoid or double down on anything you want. Vegetarians, vegans, and gluten-free folks should all be able to safely enjoy the dinner.

  • There’ll be some alcohol and cannabis at the wedding. You can partake as you choose!

Feel free to bring your own, of course.

  • We’re both established in our adult lives and already merged households to live in sin, so we don’t need the usual kinds of wedding gifts like flatware, toasters, etc.

If you’d like to give us a gift beyond just making the effort to join us for the wedding, you can give us money and we’ll use it to pay for the festivities and our eventual honeymoon. Eli is scheming for us to ski at four or five different Canadian mountains in a week this winter, but Nelson is pushing for maybe just two.
